High-quality, handcrafted in Germany: The new World Champion 89 blade series is something truly special. To mark the 25th anniversary of Sweden’s 1989 World Team Championship victory in Dortmund (a historic 5-0 final win over China), three new blades are now available, dedicated to the legends Jan-Ove Waldner, Jörgen Persson, and Mikael Appelgren—and are manufactured exclusively for DONIC in Germany: by master craftsmen, with the highest precision and using state-of-the-art technology—just as the three Swedish superstars themselves played. All three models feature a top veneer made from Italian spruce that is over 200 years old. It is combined with a 3 mm-thick Kiri core, as well as additional spruce veneers—or, in the case of the Appelgren All+ model, Ayous and an innovative Carbon Fleece-Zylon (CFZ) fabric produced exclusively for DONIC. Only high-quality sawn veneers from our own production are used; these are more stable than conventional sliced veneers and ensure that the wood retains its playing characteristics for much longer—without the usual material fatigue. In a specially developed drying process, the moisture content of all three wood types is reduced from 12 to 16 percent to just 4 percent. This makes the blades particularly stable and lightweight (the Waldner and Persson models weigh approx. 85 g, while the Appelgren All+ weighs only approx. 80 g). Each individual blade is subjected to a special cold-pressing process for 24 hours. The use of unique 3D technology ensures that the handle is ergonomically perfect and flawlessly rounded. A perfect and extremely lightweight all-around blade recommended for players of all playing styles and skill levels.
